The Pirates went overseas to add to their already stellar crew of European riders. This season, North American standouts Mike Casanova and Dan Brisse joined the squad of swashbucklers led by Hans Ahlund and Marko Grilc. Look for banger parts from these guys, and dont sleep on Gigi Rüfs second part of the year, who to quote Pirate Editor Basti Balser, has the iron legs of Austria, stomping tricks on impossibly flat landings. As you can see by the rider list, the Pirate crew is a diverse one—rail riders, jumpers, and backcountry guys all made their way into the lineup, which promises entertainment for every boarding enthusiast. OverSeas also comes with a 100 page art book, so youd be hard pressed to find a reason not to add this to your wish list.

You won’t want to miss this first ever for KeyArena – playing host to 175 of the world’s elite action sports pros in skateboarding, BMX, inline skating and freestyle motocross competing in the crown jewel of action sports contests, the three-day LG Action Sports World Championships. Ticket holders will also be treated to full concerts from top musical acts during each ticketed session. Musical guests include The Game (Session 1 - Friday) and Pennywise (Session 3 - Saturday). Our friend Chris Bowlin has entered the Mt. Baker Legendary Banked Slalom for the last 5 years. Last year he had to stand on the sidelines and watch because his severely broken leg was still healing. He made up for lost time. Yesterday he was recognized for his hard work and talent in pursuing his passion. He placed 2nd in the race and won one of the coveted duct-tape trophies and $1000 worth of swag, including a snowboard!

This Friday all of you in LA or OC should head up/down to the Newport Beach Film Festival and catch "Let it Ride" on the big screen. The film's director, Jacques Russo, and I will be hanging out and toasting Craig with some of the snowboard luminaries featured in the film. The movie screens this Friday, April 20th, at 5:30pm -- which means the afterparty should get going at about 7:15pm. Location is the
Cannery, which is walking distance from the theatre (and a great place for dinner). If you're looking for end-of-season-pow-Karma there could no better choice than attending this screening...Kelly

Let It Ride, a full-length film about legendary snowboarder Craig Kelly, was honored with “Best Picture” and “Best Soundtrack” awards at the 2007 X-Dance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. Let It Ride is directed by veteran filmmaker Jacques Russo and produced by Locomotion Films.
